Stupid board login ate my post, grr.

Anyway, on the flame war topic, people tend to like to brand large groups of people based on the actions of a few. I won't join a bashing bandwagon like that. It's not as simple as "Evo hacked." It was probably more along the lines of "a clique of people in Evo hacked that was very ingrained into the guild and couldn't be tossed away easily," I suspect. I don't think anyone disputed there were hackers in Evo. I don't know how far it went, the rumor was they were equipping their bots in Solteris etc ghost killing mobs, and I don't know if that's true, but I do know hacking the executable is apples to oranges to an event trigger that repops on its own. I'm not saying that excuses Nae's venomous posts, but he's his own person and he's angry, and this section of the boards is for the most part moderation free. Had he posted in the wrong section I'd have modded him no different than anyone else. I think most that know me know I'm such a goodie two shoes that I'm telling the truth there (no offense Nae, I know you're angry). I sympathize in that about four years ago, a bit more, HE had a hacker problem (not for the raids but from some unsavory members), with posts on apps like "it's not the guild's business what they do off raids." A hacker infestation is very hard to get rid of. I wasn't in the leadership of the guild back then, but I saw how hard it was, the bands of friends some saying they didn't hack when everyone suspected they were but could not prove it. I remember the glee the then bard class lead had reporting Moss (whatever version of moss it was back then there's been like four or more) and got his shaman bot banned because Moss hacked his bot into RSS below level 69. Thankfully the guild split mercifully took them all away, and now we've been able to be very strict. We booted a really good and friendly new member a few months ago because when he sent a screenshot to help learn breakneck we saw that he was using MQ. We don't need that kind of reputation, and we don't put up with hacking. The days of many PoP guilds looking the other way as some of their members "tracked" for the Earth rings etc are long gone, at least for us, so to that I say apples and oranges. Hacking is actively messing with the game's code. The game itself did this, without any interference. The reason why I maintain that it was blurry to us is because of the lockout ensuring (unless taking it to ridiculous levels) we weren't getting extra loot. That coupled with the fact the people we talked to seemed to think the devs let it be due to the lockout is why it happened. It's just total apples and oranges to something like hacking. We made a mistake, but it didn't take any nefarious manipulation of game code for it to happen. Had we known there'd be an issue we would not have done it. That's not an excuse; it's a fact. I've never personally posted I don't understand what happened. What I am saying is it's disgusting this wasn't fixed months ago, when who knows how many guilds got weeks worth of lockouts, and I am going to make it my personal mission to make sure this gets fixed. I don't intend to see any other guilds get burned by this, and if the dev force is so diluted they can't even fix an exploit like this, this game is in trouble.
